Job Description
• Perform month-end transactional activities e.g., review of adjustments, month-end closing procedures and recon preparation etc.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and follow up on long outstanding items.
• Maintain intercompany loan accounts.
• Maintain the hedging process in line with AECI Treasury policy & ensure that all imports and exports are hedged accordingly on a weekly basis.
• Manage monthly management accounts for a portfolio of internal and external customers.
• Correspond and interact with clients to obtain information required to complete tasks and to make them aware of filing deadlines and other obligations.
• Maintain operators in the various banking profiles and ensure compliance with AECI Banking policy.
• Capture loading of EFT payments; release of EFT payments, process of non-vendor related payments in SAP and conducting cash book processing and bank reconciliation preparation.
• Engage with stakeholders at an operational level to address any service delivery issues.
• Comply with all legislation relating to IFRS.
• Identify internal control weaknesses and assist in developing and implementing improvement opportunities.
• Review audit instructions and compile/prepare supporting documentation for the audit process.
• Resolve audit queries and discuss with internal / external auditor where required.
• Comply with Safety, Health, and Environment standards.
Qualifications & Experience
• B Com degree or equivalent (Honours would be advantageous)
• Minimum 3-5 years' experience as an Accountant Articles (advantageous)
• Understanding of manufacturing industries
• A high degree of computer literacy including advanced knowledge of the MS Office Suite - especially MS Excel and word.
• Sound knowledge of International financial reporting Standards (IRFS)
• Knowledge of an ERP system, preferably SAP
• Knowledge of systems, policies, and procedures
• Knowledge of the regulatory, statutory and compliance frameworks affecting area of responsibility
• Ability to extract reports from the system
