The Risk Department within our organization operates independently to oversee front-line trading activities. It plays a crucial role in ensuring that senior management understands the risk-reward dynamics of our trading portfolios and accurately values physical exposures such as oil cargoes, electricity generation, and gas deliveries.
In this role, you will manage a local team of Junior Risk Managers while actively engaging in risk management duties yourself. Effective communication with London-based Risk Managers, Senior Risk Management, and traders is essential.

Primary Tasks & Key Responsibilities:
- Direct management of a team of 3-5 Junior Risk Managers.
- Oversight of risk management responsibilities, including:
- Ensuring accurate and timely recording of physical and derivatives trades in reporting systems.
- Daily calculation and reporting of risk metrics and profit/loss (P&L).
- Contribution to the development of new systems, processes, and reports.
- Effective communication of results to traders and senior management.
- Proactive identification and communication of issues, ensuring reports reflect accurate risk assessments.
- Fulfillment of other ad hoc duties as required.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Qualifications:
- Educated to degree level, preferably in economics/finance.
Work Experience & Skill Requirements:
- 3-7 years of experience in accounting, financial services, or commodities trading.
- Preferable experience in commodities trading, particularly in oil and/or gas.
- Proficiency in coding languages such as VBA or Python is advantageous.
- Experience in team management with the ability to mentor junior team members.
- Strong numeracy, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas to diverse audiences, including senior management.
- Capability to constructively challenge proposals to ensure robustness while maintaining effective working relationships.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and handle a variety of challenges with flexibility.
- Capability to work autonomously and deliver practical business insights within tight deadlines.
