Our client in Clayville, is looking to employ a Cost Accountant to join their team.
The Cost accountant will be responsible to maintain financial control, cost analysis and sales analysis, managing accounts and staff, and ensure day-to-day activities.Duties & ResponsibilitiesJob Title: Cost Accountant
Location: Clayville
Remuneration: R420 000 per year depending on experience
Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare, analyse and report weekly, monthly, quarterly gross margin analysis by brand by customer type
Assist in month-end closing, prepare journalPrepare, analyse and report weekly, monthly, quarterly gross margin analysis by brand by customer type
Assist in month-end closing, prepare journal entries as necessary, analyse inventory valuation, inventory roll forward
Prepare cost reporting analysis per product category
Coordinate with IT department for system issues, maintenance and development such as production, accounts receivable.
Assist in compliance with legislation
Analyse cost accounting data.
Maintain internal control documentation and test internal controls
Converts data into value adding information
Value creation via data mining and interrogation.
Review and analyse inventory and margin reports
Work in special projects as required
Support and assist internal department reporting requirements such as audit schedules, tax schedules and others
Ensure timely submission, accuracy and validity of inventory, gross margin schedules to management
Highlighting problematic customers to Exco
Submission of monthly provisions
Prepare and complete the monthly accounts receivable reports
Attend monthly Sales and credit alignment meetings
Attend monthly BCM consultation meetings
Calculate sales commissions for the sales payouts
Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 3 or more years of related experience
Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles & Cost Accounting Standards
Must be able to adapt to new and different computer programs and software to enable efficient data gathering and analysis
Ability to research, compile, analyse and interpret data
Good written, verbal communication and collaborative skills
Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office products
Ability to analyse and reconcile complex accounts and reserves, variances and stock holding
Imports analysis and product costing
Strong organizational and communicational skills
Detail oriented
Knowledge of SAGE 300 preferred
Apparel industry background preferred
Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
