Job Title:
Assistant Accountant
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have strong Excel skills, including proficiency with advanced functions like VLOOKUP, and will possess an AAT qualification (Level 2 or higher). This role will support the accounting department in various financial tasks and contribute to the accuracy and efficiency of our financial reporting processes.
Key
Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts
2. Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
3. Maintain and update financial spreadsheets using advanced Excel functions
4. Support month-end and year-end closing processes
5. Help prepare financial reports and analysis for management
6. Assist with audit preparations and liaising with external auditors
7. Contribute to the improvement of financial processes and systems
8. Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as required
Required Qualifications:
1. AAT qualification Level 2 or higher (Level 3 or 4 preferred)
2. Advanced Excel skills, including proficiency with functions such as VLOOKUP, PIVOT tables, and macros
3. Minimum 2 years of experience in an accounting or finance role
4. Strong attention to detail and accuracy
5. Good understanding of basic accounting principles
6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
8. Strong time management and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Working towards or considering ACCA or CIMA qualifications
2. Experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Xero)
3. Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
4. Understanding of financial controls and compliance requirements
Technical Skills:
1. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
2. Familiarity with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
3. Experience with accounting software
4. Basic understanding of data analysis techniques
Personal Qualities:
1. Proactive and eager to learn
2. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
3. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
