Our Client, a South Western Local Government Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager Finance Services to join their team. This pivotal role is responsible for delivering the Long-Term Financial Plan, Annual Budget, and Budget Reviews, ensuring compliance with statutory timeframes, and continuously improving financial reporting to the Council and Senior Leadership Group. You will efficiently manage the Council's finances, respond to internal and external audits, and oversee the Council's asset management contractor. This position involves interaction with Council, customers, regulatory bodies, auditors, and operational areas of the Council.

Responsibilities:

As the Manager Finance Services, you will ensure that Council's financial services are delivered effectively and efficiently, meeting reasonable Council and customer expectations within regulatory and legislative requirements. Reporting to the Director of Finance & Corporate Services, you will provide strategic and tactical advice on budget management, cost-benefit analysis, forecasting needs, and securing new funding.

About You:

The ideal candidate will possess tertiary qualifications in accounting, commerce, business, or a related field, with CPA/ICAA qualifications being advantageous. You will have strong staff management skills, including experience with performance management and planning. Your analytical and problem-solving skills will enable you to investigate issues, collect and analyse data, and make recommendations on solutions. You will be capable of working unsupervised, meeting demanding deadlines, and delivering high-quality outcomes.

You will excel in customer service and communication, effectively liaising with stakeholders in a culturally diverse environment. Advanced computer skills, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, are required, with experience using Practical Computer Services and MAGIQ being advantageous. You should have a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in similar positions and possess advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience with contemporary financial management and financial sustainability practices, with the ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Management accounting, cost accounting, asset accounting, long-term financial planning, budget management, internal and external audit requirements, procurement management, compliance, and internal controls.
