Our client, a leading financial services group in South Africa, is seeking a dynamic Mergers & Acquisitions Associate to join their high-performing team in Johannesburg. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex business issues and contribute to the growth of the organization through strategic acquisitions.
Job Description:
As a Mergers & Acquisitions Associate, you will play a crucial role in driving the company's growth strategy through acquisitions. You'll be involved in all stages of the M&A process, from pre-acquisition evaluation to post-acquisition integration. This position offers a unique blend of financial analysis, strategic thinking, and project management, providing an excellent platform for career growth in the dynamic world of corporate finance.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct in-depth financial analysis and due diligence on potential acquisition targets
• Develop and maintain complex financial models to support decision-making processes
• Evaluate strategic fit and potential synergies of target companies
• Project manage acquisition processes, including coordination with legal and operational teams
• Engage with sellers' management teams to uncover key business insights
• Prepare comprehensive due diligence reports highlighting critical deal issues
• Support post-acquisition integration efforts, including SAP implementation
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of M&A processes and methodologies
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (Honours preferred) from a reputable university
• Minimum 3 years' experience in M&A or 7-10 years as a financial manager
• Strong financial modeling skills and expert proficiency in Excel
• Experience in valuations, due diligence, and business development
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Advanced business writing and verbal communication skills in English
• Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as required
