Job Description

At Fulton Hogan, strong leadership is an important part of being a successful and enduring infrastructure business. For the past 90 years, our leaders, both at Board and Executive level, have provided governance and direction so that together we deliver the best strategic outcomes for our business so that we can achieve our vision of creating, connecting, and caring for communities.

We are looking for a leader driven by a passion for high performance, collaboration and fostering strong relationships with employees across the business. Our culture thrives on our Real values - Respect, Energy & Effort, Attitude and Leadership. Our employees live by these values through the work they do, every day, as one team.

The opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic Commercial Manager to join our Regional Leadership team in the Bay of Plenty. In this pivotal role, you will lead all commercial activities, attend project meetings and reviews, provide leadership by supporting managers, and contribute to the financial success of our businesses. Your strategic thinking and expertise in cost management will drive our performance through analyses of contract and operational financial data.

Additionally, you will oversee our finance team, ensuring robust financial management and strategic guidance. As a key member of the regional leadership team, you will collaborate closely with senior leaders to drive the delivery of our regional strategy, ensuring alignment with Fulton Hogan's overarching strategic direction.

Joining our team means becoming part of a professional yet down-to-earth group where collaboration and support are at the forefront. Our team members are not only experts in their fields but also approachable and willing to lend a hand, making our workplace a dynamic and enjoyable space. We believe that a positive and supportive environment leads to better outcomes, both for our projects and our people.

In addition to the above you will:
  • Work closely with all managers to support tendering and submitting proposals, including providing a commercial review and assisting in pre award negotiations.
  • Conducting investigations into the performance of departments and projects, implementing improvement plans.
  • Ensure integrity of all regional financial information, ensuring all internal control frameworks are adhered to.
  • Analyse business needs and recommend growth opportunities or process improvements.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:
  • Proven experience in commercial management, ideally within the civil construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of contract law and financial management.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Provide leadership, support, and guidance to fellow team members in all commercial and financial areas.
  • Champion change and innovation, leading by example and empowering the team to step up.

You will be a supportive and collaborative leader with a passion for developing and growing talent. You will have strong financial and business acumen.

To ensure our employees are well looked after, we offer a suite of benefits such as:
  • Medical insurance for you and your family.
  • Life insurance from day one.
  • KiwiSaver employer contributions after service milestones up to 7%.
  • Fuel discount card.
  • Parental leave top up payment with additional return to work support.
  • Family scholarships.
  • Ongoing training and development, career growth and progression opportunities.
  • Great discounts at a wide range of retailers.

Creating, Connecting, and caring for the community

Our people regularly donate their time to local causes and initiatives, while at a regional and national level we provide financial support, skills, and resources to a wide range of organisations that are strengthening our communities. Our focus aims to also reduce our impact on the environment, and regenerate healthy new ecosystems. We look to partner with others to lift the standards of our industry and show customers lower-impact, sustainable ways of delivering infrastructure.

Do not delay! Apply now.

All successful candidates must under-go and pass a pre-employment medical and drug screen.

We celebrate and embrace diversity across our business and are committed to equal employment opportunities.

We believe in the value that diversity brings to our team and people who share our REAL values are encouraged to apply
