Semi-Senior/Senior Accountant

LE2, Leicester

£28,000 - £36,000 per annum DOE

Our client, a prominent accountancy firm, is presently searching for an Accountant to join their team.

This role is ideally suited for a motivated and versatile individual seeking an engaging opportunity. The accountancy firm is dedicated to offering a diverse and stimulating workload, providing a friendly and hands-on year-round service to local small businesses and individual taxpayers.

Reporting to the Practice Owner, the selected candidate will engage in a wide array of accountancy, taxation, and client interaction responsibilities. This position presents an opportunity to contribute to an award-winning and highly successful enterprise.

Responsibilities
  • Generating accounts from incomplete records, encompassing double-entry bookkeeping and creating accounts up to Trial Balance stage
  • Preparing and reviewing Accounts for Sole Traders, Partnerships, and Limited Companies
  • Crafting and reviewing Self-Assessment Tax Returns for Sole Traders, Individuals, Partnerships, and Rental Property Income
  • Developing, reviewing, and submitting Corporation Tax Computations for Limited Companies
  • Generating, reviewing, and submitting VAT Returns
  • Providing client-centric support, involving client meetings and tax advisory
  • Efficiently relaying information between clients/visitors/enquirers and colleagues through verbal and written channels, interpreting and responding effectively to verbal and written directives
  • Managing, organizing, and updating pertinent data using database applications
  • Plus other duties in line with the role's grade as assigned

Qualifications & Experience
  • A qualification such as AAT/ACCA/ICAEW or qualified by experience
  • A minimum of 3 years' recent practice experience
  • A genuine interest in being a dependable advisor to small business clients
  • Confidence in building rapport with clients, offering solutions, and guidance
  • The ability to operate within tight timeframes while upholding work quality
  • Exceptional communication abilities and a customer-focused mindset
  • Proactive, positive, and self-motivated disposition with adept problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in IT, including familiarity with practice software such as TaxCalc, Xero, and Dext
  • Adaptability to novel software, systems, and regulatory changes
  • The capability to take charge of all technical aspects of work
  • Experience managing a diverse workload, prepared to take charge of personal and team tasks
