Role Description
McGregor Industries is seeking a full-time Job Cost Accountant - Construction to join our team in Scranton, PA. As a Job Cost Accountant - Construction, you will be responsible for managing and analyzing project costs, monitoring budgets, applying percentage-of-completion method of accounting and providing financial insights to support decision making. This is an on-site role that will require collaboration with various stakeholders in the company, including project managers, estimators, and the finance team as well as the customer. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of construction accounting principles and will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate project costing and financial reporting.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities / Qualifications / Experience
Bachelor's degree preferred in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum of 3 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in the construction industry
Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles and cost control methods preferred
Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting
Experience with job cost accounting software
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to multitask and perform under pressure (competing/overlapping deadlines)
Proficient in all Microsoft Office products with a demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new technology (Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word, OneNote, Power Point).
Experience with Pro-Contractor, Textura and other contractor based platforms preferred. Lead, RACP and CCIP/OCIP reporting knowledge would be helpful.
Responsibilities:
Manage AIA billing processes and ensure accuracy and timeliness.
Prepare and submit Client Progress Billing Draw Requests.
Prepare reconciliations of billings to actual costs.
Provide proactive and responsive internal and external customer service.
Assist with project related audits.
Conduct detailed account reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies.
Coordinate with project managers, finance team, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth financial operations.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the development and implementation of new procedures.
