Description
Amazon is seeking an exceptional VAT Manager to join our team in a VAT advisory role supporting Amazon Business covering primarily B2B EU VAT/invoicing topics. The successful candidate will be keen to gain a deep understanding of Amazon's business model and end-to-end systems, will take ownership of projects, is able to deliver on tight deadlines, and enjoys collaborating across business, tax, and technology teams.
Key job responsibilities
The ideal candidate will have effective interpersonal skills, the ability to transform complex VAT regulations into practical and clear requirements that are easy to understand and implement, including persuasive written and oral communication skills with both tax and non-tax professionals.
A day in the life
- Assist with the delivery of planning, real time coordination, and communication of business projects with tax dependencies.
- Identify and define risks, opportunities, and strategy using your expertise and judgement to support decisions with financial, operational, or customer implications.
- Collaborate with tax, business and tech partner teams. This includes drafting the appropriate level of documentation to support analyses performed, decisions made and conclusions reached.
- Effectively communicate with and influence partner teams.
- Support engagements with external advisors and tax authorities.
Basic Qualifications
- 7+ years of relevant VAT experience, e.g., Big 4 Accounting Firm, Law Firm, in-house tax experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient English language skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Recognized professional tax qualification, chartered accountant, or relevant law degree.
- International VAT experience in both practice and industry (including B2B/B2G invoicing, B2B supply chain, domestic and cross-border supplies of goods and services).
