YOUR IMPACT

We're looking for a professional to join our commodities strats team, to help us drive our commodity business forward and into new areas. The team is rapidly expanding into a variety of markets across sustainable products, power and renewables. The desk provides analysis and structuring of ideas for corporates, sovereigns and institutional clients. The output of this will be via a variety of formats including internal analytics and client presentations, with content and idea generation a key focus of the team.

Team Description:

Common Strats approach attacks real-time problems via rigorous technology, quantitative modeling, and data science. The role is commercial and innovative - taking solutions to drive returns, risk taking, and risk management. The Goldman Sachs Commodities business facilitates risk transfer and physical logistics for our clients: corporations that produce and consume commodities, investors, and governments throughout the world. We work with tangible assets: crude oil and products, precious and base metals, natural gas and power, agricultural products. The team is highly integrated with both the trading and origination functions which drives successful outcomes for our clients and the business.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• BS/MS in a computational field - Applied Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science
• Strong programming background in compiled or scripting languages (C/C++, Python, Java, etc.)
• Prior experience in commodities, ideally in Gas and Power
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Time series analysis, statistics and derivative pricing
• Experience with xVA and capital calculations
• Experience in idea generation and comfort across asset classes within Commodities
