Credit Controller (12-month fixed term contract)



Location:
Sheffield City Centre (Hybrid)
Hours: Full-time 37 hours per week (part-time 25 hours+ per week considered)
Salary; £25,000 (pro rata for part-time)
Start date: August 2024 for a fixed term of 12 months

We are seeking an experienced Credit Controller to join our busy team on a one-year fixed term maternity cover contract. In this role, you'll play a vital role in keeping our student community thriving by ensuring timely payments and resolving any billing issues. We are looking for candidates with a good understanding of credit control and accounts receivable, preferably with existing experience of each within a business providing services direct to consumers. While the role is ideally full-time, we would consider strongly qualified applicants looking for fewer hours over a minimum of four days per week. Key

responsibilities:

  • Managing and reducing monthly aged debt for the group.
  • Overall management of the credit control dashboards.
  • Helping students manage their monthly utility bills through clear communication and effective problem-solving via email and SMS.
  • Utilising your understanding of financial processes to analyse account activity and identify potential issues.
  • Applying your credit control experience to develop and improve existing processes for handling failed payments and ensure timely collections.
  • Working collaboratively with students to create manageable payment plans for outstanding balances.
  • Managing and escalation of accounts that need to be closed by the credit control team
  • Ensuring accurate and timely processing of refunds and account closures.
  • Other general finance and administrative duties as and when required within the Finance Team
  • Being a team player, contributing to a positive and efficient credit control environment.


Skills and experience:
  • 2+ years’ experience in a credit control role, ideally within a consumer services environment.
  • A good understanding of financial processes and how credit control plays a vital role in a healthy business.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with a patient and professional approach.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel) and Sage or other financial software.
  • A positive ‘can do attitude’ with natural problem-solving abilities that are accompanied with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work as part of a team collaboratively as well as on your own initiative.
