To support the management accounting function of the Trust, reporting to the CFO, to deliver a first-class finance service to the Trust and its constituent schools.
The successful candidate will develop a broad understanding of the operational landscape of the Trust and be able to effectively convert this into a financial picture that is customer friendly and allows for non-finance colleagues to quickly grasp the key concepts.
The following list of accountabilities is not intended to be exhaustive. The postholder is expected to understand the broader requirements of the role, and the degree of flexibility that will be required.
Provide support to the CFO and Finance team as requested, and cover in periods of absence.
Any other duties that reasonably fall within the purview of the post which may be allocated by the CFO consultation with the post holder.

- Responsible for the management of the Capital funds and Fixed Asset register, to include timely capitalisation of completed capital projects, monitoring progress of capital projects against budget, and ensuring Trust capitalisation and depreciation policies are adhered to.
- Responsible for the management accounts of academies and Shared Services of the Trust, to include Catering, Estates, ICT, Energy and utilities, Marketing, Administration, HR, Finance and Operations
- Provide an accurate picture of the Shared Services functions financial situation for the current and future periods and support central management with financial data analysis
- Ensure that monthly forecast scenarios are robust and appropriately challenged.
- Manage the budgeting process of academies, Shared Services and Capital projects, ensuring the budgeting system is up to date, and schedules are in place to support the budget.
- Responsible for the preparation of monthly Budget Monitoring Reports for academies and Shared Services and conduct reviews with relevant heads of service and managers.
- Responsible for the monthly payroll reconciliation for academies and Shared Services, highlighting month-on-month changes but also variance to budget and forecast
- Assist with the implementation of a new payroll system to include the preparation of the monthly payroll journal, to include analysis of the payroll costing report, costallocation, pension and NI reconciliation and reconciliation of payroll to the balance sheet.
- Prepare ad-hoc financial analysis to support financial decision-making.
- Assist with the month end close of account to include reviewing the Trust accounts and process journals
- Assist with the preparation of the Monthly Performance report which includes budget variance analysis and review of income and expenditure
- Assist the CFO and Financial Controller with the internal and external audit.
- Assist the CFO and Financial Controller with ongoing review of financial systems and procedures, recommend improvements and assist with implementation.
