This is a great opportunity to join our small and enthusiastic team.
The Financial Reporting team is based on our Manawatū campus, and is responsible for the general and subsidiary ledgers, domestic and international taxation, fixed asset register, external financial statements, and the provision of financial support to subsidiaries and controlled entities.
Reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager, the Senior Financial Accountant will contribute towards achieving the financial reporting team's objectives. Duties will vary, but are likely to include:
* Maintaining internal accounting and information systems for the University, and its controlled entities and produce accurate and timely financial reports.
* Ensuring the University and its controlled entities tax obligations are met.
* Providing financial support to assigned controlled entities.
* Assisting in the completion of year end processes and the development of the annual financial statements, including support of external audit.
* Providing support to other team members
Our ideal candidate will:
* Have a tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance.
* Be a member of a recognised accounting body.
* Have 5+ years' experience in financial accounting in a large organisation, including accounting for subsidiaries and consolidations.
* Have significant experience in matters relating to taxation.
* Have a good understanding of relevant accounting standards.
* Experience with software platforms such as TechnologyOne / Ci Anywhere is ideal.
* Possess an inquisitive mindset with the ability to work independently, along with proven experience in identifying and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
This is a permanent full-time position located in Palmerston North, at the heart of the Manawatū.
The salary band for this role is $79,009 to $111,028 based on skills and experience.
