Duties & Responsibilities
Why do we need you?
  • Develop and maintain cost accounting systems.
  • Analyze and report on production costs, labor costs, and material usage.
  • Perform variance analysis to compare actual costs against standard costs and budgets.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for the factor.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts.
  • Monitor budget performance and report on variances.
  • Provide financial insights to support the budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Monitor and reconcile inventory accounts.
  • Conduct periodic physical inventory counts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Ensure accurate valuation of inventory and proper accounting treatment.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
  • Assist in internal and external audits as required.
  • Perform financial analysis to support decision-making processes.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to management.
  • Work closely with the production and operations teams to understand financial impacts on manufacturing processes.
  • Support the implementation of new systems and processes to improve financial reporting and operational efficiency.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on financial procedures and systems.

Is this job for you?

The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years' strong costing experience in a manufacturing environment. The candidate should have a relevant National Diploma or B-Tech in Cost & Management Accounting or equivalent qualification. Should be currently studying or interested in pursuing the CIMA qualification. The role calls for someone who has the ability to work under pressure and is an is an excellent communicator. They should have knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP. It is necessary for the candidate to have problem-solving skills, strong analytical skills, pay attention to details, be self-driven, and be results-oriented.

The Factory Cost Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial functions within the manufacturing facility. Will be working closely with the production and operations teams to ensure accurate financial data and provides insights for cost control and process improvements. This role involves overseeing cost accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and analysis to support the factory's financial health and operational efficiency. Understand BOM creation, cost components and allocation by activity type and activity rates. Understand and investigate production costs variances.
