To support this, Hastings District Council has a capable Finance team,
Due to an internal promotion, we are currently seeking a new Financial Accountant who will fulfil the financial accounting functions of Council and provide professional advice across Council.

Your duties in the role will include:
- Financial systems, reporting, ensuring compliance with all finance related legislative statutory and audit requirements.
- Lead the preparation of financials, notes and non-financial information for Annual Report and Annual Report Summary document as per the annual report timeline.
- Manage the Auditors financial requests and queries relating to the end of year audit, annual report and interim audit.
- Provide key input into the set-up of new Financial Systems
- Guiding the wider finance team & business on technical accounting matters
- Experience with large, complex financial information systems (TechOne, etc) and able to use Microsoft Excel to an advanced level.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret accounting treatment

To be successful in this role you will have:
- Experience in financial accounting and statutory reporting.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex accounting guidance and apply it to practical situations.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills to liaise at all levels of Council to whilst ensuring financial information is accurate
- An accounting degree or similar qualification
- Experience in working with large financial information systems. (TechOne desirable)
