Personal Tax Assistant - East Bristol

Salary - competitive depending on experience

Hours - 22 to 37.5 hours per week, depending on whether the suitable candidate wants part or full time

Holiday - 23 days annual leave (excluding bank holidays) increasing by one day per each year of service (up to a maximum of 5 days)

We have an exciting role for a Personal Tax Assistant in our East Bristol office either on a full time or part time basis.

We are looking for a Personal Tax Assistant to join the team in our East Bristol office. The ideal candidate will have two years relevant experience in personal taxation. The role will involve preparing self-assessment tax returns for a range of clients and to offer general personal tax support.

Key responsibilities of a Personal Tax Assistant will include:

• preparation of personal tax returns for a range of client’s such as; sole traders, partnerships, alongside company directors and those with rental income

• preparation of capital gains tax computations for inclusion within self-assessment returns, together with completion of 60-Day CGT Declarations to HMRC

• preparing forms P11D & P11D(b)

• working closely with clients, other members of the tax team and other departments, including direct contact with the Partners and clients in order to obtain the required information to prepare Self-Assessment Returns

• liaising directly with HMRC in relation to personal tax matters

• supporting other members of the team and participate in ad-hoc projects

• maintaining and updating company databases in order to track/ monitor client progress

• checking client records to ensure all information has been received

About you

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

• educated to GCSE Level 7 or above in both English and Mathematics would be an advantage

• already studying or AAT / ATT qualified

• at least 2 years’ personal taxation experience in an accountancy practice

• experience with MS Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook and CCH accountancy software would be advantageous

• strong organisation skills with a problem-solving attitude

• excellent written and verbal communication skills

• attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure
