We're seeking a future team member for the role of Head of Controllers and Financial Operations to join our Pershing EMEA Finance team. This role is located in Manchester - hybrid.



Responsibilities:


  • Using significant accounting expertise and knowledge of complex products and services, provides accounting guidance to relevant stakeholders and manages a team of professional staff's execution of finance processes for a legal entity or entities, line of business, country, region or accounting process in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations.

  • Implements the comprehensive Finance Policies compliance analytics and metrics reporting process. Responsible for ensuring the upkeep of complex accounting processes surrounding capital markets, global markets, technology and/or broker dealers.

  • Directs the team's transformation of data into information for reporting purposes. Reviews work papers and documentation and contributes to the identification of opportunities for accounting process improvement.

  • May take part in assignments within the regional or global service center which cross accounting functions associated with lines of business, legal entities and geographies that have an impact on the internal and external reporting, accounting and accounting process.

  • Uses communication skills to convey complex information to legal entity controllers, reconciliation managers, SOX personnel, internal auditors and operations personnel.

  • Recruits, directs, motivates and develops staff, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth and their ability to function effectively as a team. Responsible for the performance management processes for professional staff within the team.

  • Directs professional staff responsible for all General Ledger activities for multiple, and likely complex, legal entities, lines of business, countries, regions or accounting processes.

  • Responsible for the achievement of goals and objectives for multiple, and likely complex, legal entities, lines of business, countries, regions or accounting processes.

This position also has accountability for Financial Control across the business, acting as the first line of defence. The latter part of the role will involve the review of the control environment within Finance to ensure the controls in place are acceptable for the risks associated, whilst ad-hoc testing is performed to confirm processes work as planned.
  • The individual is required to understand the business and related accounting flows of the entity for which the individual is responsible, maintaining the control environment (including reconciliations) and providing high quality reporting to the stakeholders. Through this understanding the individual will be effective in carrying out their duties. This individual would be responsible for a group of legal entities as well as supervising a team of more junior legal entity controllers.

  • This role is accountable for ensuring the Regional and Global Shared Services Centres (RSSCs and GSCC) deliver; through effective, efficient Sarbanes-Oxley and regulatory compliant finance/accounting processes in accordance with local and consolidated GAAP; useable, complete, accurate and timely financial information from the point of transaction through to financial close (period, quarter, and annual) for specific legal entities.

  • This individual will monitor the outcomes of all accounting processes and transform data into information for reporting purposes, to assure all legal entity requirements have been met for regulatory compliance and reporting purposes.

  • The individual will provide insight and guidance to the SSCs related to events and transactions which have occurred throughout the period specific to their LE and assure all accounting and finance related transactions recorded accurately reflect the business operations for their assigned shared service centres.

  • The individual is also responsible for managing Interest management which has the responsibility for interest accounting plus charging clients for overdrafts and paying out credit interest to clients.

  • The role will also provide leadership and direction to a team of professionals that are based in Liverpool and Chennai (India).
