Our client is looking for a Deputy Group Finance Controller to join their team. The DGFC is responsible mainly for Financial Accounting & Reporting for our client. The DGFC assists in overall responsibility for accurate reporting throughout all BUS within the group, giving assistance, advice and support Finance Team for each BU. The DGFC reports to the Group Finance Controller, Group CFO and Group Deputy CEO. The scope of responsibilities of the DGFC spans over the Accounting & Finance within our client's organisation; improving current reporting and developing staff skills to ensure data quality in Finance.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform operational planning to ensure that reports are done on time by Finance Team.
  • Complete all month-end financial reporting, KPI's and other relevant reports ensuring accuracy, timeliness and completeness through management of all financial processes and staff. Verifying reconciliations provided by BU Finance Managers through analysis and review.
  • Ensure accuracy of accounting including classification, completeness and valuation in the financial ERP system by continuous management review and testing of controls.
  • Ensure that various group reporting deadlines are achieved through timely management of resources.
  • Monitor finance data quality through reconciliation, auditing, variance analysis, etc.
  • Ensure monthly group inter-company balances are in agreement with each other through Group IC Reconciliation template.
  • Communicate with BU FMs on instances that needs to corrected in order to comply with group reporting.
  • Providing Information in any financial data requested by management/Group team in timely manner; Contribute to the various parts of the SOP development process leading to the issuing of SOP's though liaising with the various relevant stakeholders, analysis and review.
  • Coordinate with External Auditors by providing all requested information for various Group Audit; Perform other tasks as may be required by the Group CEO, Group CFO, Group Deputy CFO, Group Finance Controller etc.

Qualifications:
  • BCom, in Commerce or Finance, post-graduate degree is desired.
  • Professional Accounting Designation Required.
  • Experience required (minimum/maximum): 5-7 years in Accounting / Finance area at a Management Level or equivalent in Audit.
  • Knowledge of IFRS and IAS will be preferred.
  • IT knowledge: Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office products (word; excel; power point), ERP experience.
  • Age (minimum / maximum): 30-40.
  • Willingness to travel abroad at times.
  • Knowledge of taxation within East African region will be an added advantage.
  • Time availability; Willingness to work until the job is done.
  • LI: Minimum of 21.
