About the role

Join our dynamic team as a Management Accountant at ASDA Express. We have an exciting opportunity for a management accountant to join our finance team and play a key role in monthly management reporting.

Reporting into the Senior Finance Manager, you will be expected to provide essential support to the Senior Accounting team, in particular preparing accurate and comprehensive monthly management accounts. We are looking for an ambitious and motivated team player with meticulous attention to detail in financial reporting and analysis.

Please note that regular travel between our head offices in Blackburn and Leeds is required for this role.

Duties &

Responsibilities:

• Support in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Prepare and post journal entries accurately and timely.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations for your designated area of responsibility.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Assist in the audit process by preparing necessary documentation and backup.
• Support the preparation of year-end statutory accounts.
• Maintain and enhance robust processes and controls in line with Group requirements.
• Ensure consistent documentation of all tasks and activities according to internal policies.
• Continuously review and improve finance processes and controls.
• Undertake various ad-hoc projects to support the finance team and strategic initiatives.

Candidate Requirements:

• Part qualified or Fully qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
• BA/BSc degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
• 2+ years of relevant experience in management accounting or a similar role.
• Proven track record in preparing monthly management accounts, financial statements, and reports.
• Experience with financial audits and statutory account preparation.
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g. SAP)
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis and financial modelling.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage and interpret financial data accurately.
• Ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and take proactive steps to address them.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
