Duties & Responsibilities
Our reputable Fuel Importer client is seeking a Financial Accountant to join their team based in Durban.

Purpose of the job:

The Financial Accountant will be responsible for managing and analyzing financial information, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and providing accurate and timely financial reports. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Salary: R35 000 (Depending on experience)
  • Working hours: Mon to Fri, With after-hours calls
  • Benefits: Provident fund


Requirements:
  • Matric certificate / Grade 12
  • Finance Degree/Diploma
  • Does not have to be a qualified CA but would be advantageous
  • Good Pastel Knowledge
  • Advantageous - Sage Evolution
  • Good knowledge of accounting to produce Management accounts.
  • 3-5 years Accounting Experience
  • Strong Reconciliation Experience
  • Strong Excel Experience
  • Exceptional communication Skills with difficult customers.
  • Must be loyal and work well under daily pressure.

Overview of the position:
  • Volume nominations for next month collected, last Thurs of the month
  • Price recap once the pricing window is complete
  • Price recap/handover to customer
  • Pricing Masterfile updates & maintaining
  • Drawdown/volumes Masterfile updates & maintaining (new deals, swops, etc)
  • Communication to the customer on drawdown, every Tuesday & daily from the 25th to the price window - often having to recon to customers own calculations for accuracy
  • SLP, induction of new sites & existing
  • Placing orders manually & accepting orders on the customer portal
  • Placing Cape Town order on mail after customer placed on IVMS
  • Passing credits, debits on orders & general queries on IVMS
  • Standby, customer support
  • Load release on payment, credit line vs limits
  • Stock-out communication
  • Daily reconciliation on stock required/ vs orders
  • BOL's to invoiced liters recon done daily to agree
  • Recognising stock on shipments, correctly recognising levies to stock & cargo dues & agree to P201
  • monthly losses
  • Monthly statements (FNB, RMB, Std Bank) & recon daily
  • Capture monthly interest, bank charges, etc
  • General creditor monthly statements & recon/aa
  • Recognizing expenses/capturing/queries
  • Updating pastel/IVMS for new suppliers
  • Capturing & allocating bank accounts for daily customers
  • Daily exposure & credit limits
  • Customer vetting, guarantees monitoring, credit app, coface comms etc
  • Updating pastel/IVMS for new customers & suppliers
  • Customer statements, per refuel top-up invoices, credits, etc
  • Load account journals, 2c & credit notes
  • Prov tax IRP6
  • VAT201 recon, submission & pay
  • PAYE201/501 recon, submission & pay
  • Mgmt pack to Board
  • Mgmt pack to Plaintree, Lombards & Commentary
  • Journals per refuel pre-invoice, tpl cap, provisions, etc
