Location: Midrand
Salary: R550k - R600k
Job Summary: The Senior Creditors Controller is responsible for overseeing the credit granting process within the organization. This role includes managing the credit control team, developing and implementing credit policies, assessing the creditworthiness of potential customers, and ensuring that all credit risk is managed in accordance with company policies. The Senior Creditors Controller will work closely with the finance and sales departments to optimize company sales and reduce bad debts.
Key Responsibilities: 1. Credit Policy Development and Management:
  • Develop and implement credit policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that credit policies are in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
2. Credit Assessment:
  • Assess the creditworthiness of potential customers through financial analysis.
  • Review and approve credit limits for new and existing customers.
  • Monitor and review credit limits regularly.
3. Credit Control:
  • Oversee the credit control team to ensure timely collection of outstanding debts.
  • Implement strategies to minimize bad debts and reduce days sales outstanding (DSO).
  • Manage and resolve disputes related to unpaid invoices.
4. Risk Management:
  • Identify and manage credit risk exposures.
  • Implement measures to mitigate potential credit risks.
  • Monitor economic trends and industry developments that could impact credit risk.
5. Reporting and Analysis:
  • Prepare regular reports on credit status, overdue accounts, and bad debt provisions.
  • Analyze credit data and financial statements to identify trends and patterns.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior management.
6. Team Leadership:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the credit control team.
  • Set performance objectives and conduct regular performance reviews.
  • Provide training and support to team members.
7. Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the sales and finance departments to align credit policies with business goals.
  • Assist in the negotiation of payment terms with customers.
8. Compliance:
  • Ensure all credit activities comply with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Stay up to date with changes in credit management best practices and legal requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in credit management (e.g., CICM, NACM) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Business Central, AccPacc, Greatplains, and PowerBI).
  • Proven experience as a Credit Manager or in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of credit risk assessment and management.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Working Conditions:
