The Senior Creditors Controller will work closely with the finance and sales departments to optimize company sales and reduce bad debts.
Key Responsibilities: 1. Credit Policy Development and Management:
- Develop and implement credit policies and procedures.
- Ensure that credit policies are in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Assess the creditworthiness of potential customers through financial analysis.
- Review and approve credit limits for new and existing customers.
- Monitor and review credit limits regularly.
- Oversee the credit control team to ensure timely collection of outstanding debts.
- Implement strategies to minimize bad debts and reduce days sales outstanding (DSO).
- Manage and resolve disputes related to unpaid invoices.
- Identify and manage credit risk exposures.
- Implement measures to mitigate potential credit risks.
- Monitor economic trends and industry developments that could impact credit risk.
- Prepare regular reports on credit status, overdue accounts, and bad debt provisions.
- Analyze credit data and financial statements to identify trends and patterns.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior management.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the credit control team.
- Set performance objectives and conduct regular performance reviews.
- Provide training and support to team members.
- Work closely with the sales and finance departments to align credit policies with business goals.
- Assist in the negotiation of payment terms with customers.
- Ensure all credit activities comply with internal policies and external regulations.
- Stay up to date with changes in credit management best practices and legal requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
- Professional certification in credit management (e.g., CICM, NACM) is preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Business Central, AccPacc, Greatplains, and PowerBI).
- Proven experience as a Credit Manager or in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of credit risk assessment and management.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Full-time position.
- Office-based with potential travel to meet clients or attend industry events.
- Standard business hours, with occasional extended hours to meet deadlines or attend meetings.
