Job Description:

Position Overview:

The Vice President of Finance will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the company, including financial planning, management of financial risks, and internal financial reporting. This role will be instrumental in driving the company's financial strategy, ensuring financial stability, and supporting the overall business strategy through sound financial management.

Key Responsibilities:

-Strategic Financial Leadership: Develop and execute financial models and strategies aligned with the company's goals and objectives. Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO, CFO, and other senior leadership.

- Financial Planning & Analysis: Oversee the preparation and analysis of internal financial reports, budgets, and forecasts. Monitor and report on financial performance against budget and targets.

- Business Partnering: Collaborate with senior leadership to translate strategic priorities into actionable financial plans. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including program management, fundraising, operations, and the people team, to align financial plans with organizational priorities. Act as a strategic partner to program leadership, offering financial guidance and support to achieve objectives.

-Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads and program managers to develop accurate and realistic budgets. Drive the ongoing forecasting process to monitor financial performance, identify trends, and mitigate risks.

- Risk Management: Identify and manage financial risks, ensuring appropriate analysis, controls and risk mitigation strategies are in place.

- Cost Management and Budget Control:

a) Analyze project performance data, trends, and metrics to identify insights, opportunities, and areas for improvement in cost management

b) Implement cost control measures, variance analysis, and change management processes to mitigate cost overruns and ensure budget compliance.

c) Improve costing and allocation methodologies to optimize cost recovery.

- - Financial Operations: Manage day-to-day treasury and investment activities. Optimize financial processes and systems for efficiency and accuracy.

- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team. Foster a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.

- Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders. Communicate financial information clearly and effectively to various audiences.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.

- Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial management experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Proven experience in strategic financial planning, risk management, and financial reporting.

- CPA or CFA Preferred

- 10+ years progressive experience in financial planning and analysis roles, preferably in the nonprofit/third sector or a large global organization.

- Strong financial modeling skills, with proficiency in Excel and financial planning software (Adaptive Insights preferred)

- Deep understanding of nonprofit accounting principles.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in financial software and systems.

- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams. Proven track record of effective decision-making and strategic thinking.

Compensation:

RMI compensates based on the level and requirements of the role. Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary for this role is in between $181,540 to $220,800.You would also have an additional 20% bonus target!

Location:

We are a remote-ready company with team members around the globe. Our beautiful and welcoming offices are available for meetings or focused work, whether you are traveling through or living nearby. Our U.S. offices are in New York City; Washington DC; Oakland, California; Boulder, Colorado, and Basalt, Colorado. This role can be located from anywhere in the continental United States.

We provide you with the essential IT equipment plus a one-time home technology payment and a monthly work from home/commuter allowance to ensure you have a comfortable home office set up and necessary supplies.

We love seeing each other in person! We occasionally gather for shared time together like retreats and learning experiences. Be ready to travel for occasional in-person meetings (and of course, we cover travel costs). Some roles may require more travel, which will be discussed during the hiring process.
