Commercial Accountant
Purpose of the role:
Reporting to the Financial Planning and Analysis Manager, this role’s primary focus is to take responsibility for the production and completion of month end accounts in relation to Tour Profitability. You will analyse income and costs and provide commentary around monthly margins, feeding back to the wider business.

Working Hours: Full-time permanent role working 37.5 hours per week 09:00 am-17:15 pm Monday to Friday with 45 minute lunch break.

Commercial Accountant
Purpose of the role:
Reporting to the Financial Planning and Analysis Manager, this role’s primary focus is to take responsibility for the production and completion of month end accounts in relation to Tour Profitability. You will analyse income and costs and provide commentary around monthly margins, feeding back to the wider business.
In this role you will:
- Work alongside the Financial Accountant in delivering the month end close on time and the integrity of the accounting records.
- Take full ownership of the P&L down to margin taking responsibility for all elements related to tour operations, this includes:
- Reconciliation and posting all elements of revenue at booking & departure level
- Reviewing all COS accruals down to departure level
- Preparing all COS prepayments down to departure level
- Liaising with other departments to ensure all costs are captured
- Complete a weekly flight reconciliation combining multiple sources of information allowing the business to have a clear view of flights purchased and their cost.
- Take ownership for reconciling, allocating and completing balance sheet accounts every month.
- Prepare tour profitability reports providing commentary and analysis to planned performance that can be used by finance and non-finance teams.
- Provide variance commentary to support the management accounts sent to group when required.
- Understand and discuss P&L results each month with both finance and non-finance members of the business.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting process using insights from month end to change and improve the accuracy of these.
- Take on ad-hoc projects that will help give the business greater understanding around its income and costs.
- Provide ad-hoc reporting as required to support the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager.Carry out ad-hoc requests; liaising with all stakeholders in the business and responding to enquiries by gathering and interpreting data, and in doing so understanding the end user needs.
To be successful you will:
- Be a newly qualified or part trained accountant with either CIMA or ACCA qualifications.
- Have a high standard of accuracy & attention to detail.
- Demonstrate a high level of analytical skills.
- Have knowledge of SUN or equivalent accounting system.
- You should have previous experience in a similar accounting role.
- Have good working knowledge of Excel.
- Be a team player.
- Be passionate about travel.
- Be able to meet deadlines.
- Be inquisitive and actively question any discrepancies.
- Be driven to continuously improve processes and procedures.
- Have great influencing skills.
