Hedging Team Leader Exciting Opportunity Within The Energy Sector!

About the Role:

Join an experienced Trading and Pricing team responsible for purchasing around £300 million worth of gas and power for approximately 40,000 business customers. As a Hedging Team Leader, you'll play a pivotal role in modeling and developing hedging strategies for a diverse range of propositions. This role is integral to ensuring competitive market positioning while managing risk exposure. We're looking for exceptional, highly numerate individuals who are self-driven, reliable, and have acute attention to detail.

Key

Responsibilities:

• Establish and grow the Hedging Team, aligning the team's vision with business objectives and strategy.
• Develop comprehensive models to review hedge strategies, guiding them from concept to implementation.
• Produce market insights on competitor propositions and predicted hedging strategies.
• Support the development of new propositions, embedding necessary reporting and processes within the Trading and Pricing team.
• Lead and develop junior team members through coaching and providing development opportunities.
• Manage the daily operations of the Hedging team, supporting the trading desk and resolving operational queries.
• Provide ad hoc support on reporting for both internal and external purposes.

What We're Looking For:

• A degree in Maths, Science, or a similarly numerate discipline.
• Highly numerate with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to deliver incremental changes towards goals.
• At least 5 years of experience in the energy industry within forecasting, trading, or pricing.
• Expertise in Python; additional programming knowledge is a plus.
• Strong proficiency in computer skills, especially Excel.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain a positive attitude while providing exemplary service.
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
