About the Role
Lockheed Martin UK Strategic Systems seeks a talented Project Accountant for our team in Helensburgh.
Responsibilities:
- Compile and review budgets using actual performance data, previous budget figures, estimated revenue, and expense reports.
- Coordinate various financial cost analyses, including cost allocation, setting up cost control systems, data collection, cost control, and report preparation.
- Ensure cost allocation aligns with established procedures and Corporate policies.
- Support formal reporting for long-term and short-term financial planning.
- Analyse financial information and prepare comprehensive financial reports.
- Assist in project completion on schedule by following established procedures, schedules, and work plans.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial charts and project lifecycle reporting.
- Conduct labour analysis and detailed breakdowns of booking levels, demand analysis, and spend profiles.
- Monitor and track programme expenditures and Earned Value Management (EVM) performance, highlighting issues, concerns, and trends.
- Interact with various programme and financial management personnel, including Commercial and Contract teams, to ensure compliance with company and programme processes and procedures.
- Perform key month-end reporting tasks such as cost transfer journals, supplier advances, accruals, new order recognition, cash reconciliation, revenue recognition, and OSEC reporting.
- Support and complete invoicing and monthly cost certificates for customer billing.
- Conduct risk and opportunity analysis against outputs.
Required skills, qualifications, and experience:
- Experience in an Accountant role.
- Professional qualification (finalist or recently qualified) CIMA, ACCA, ACA (or equivalent) plus industry experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise and interact with senior management.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel modelling.
Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge of Enterprise Application Software, with a preference for SAP.
- Previous financial and/or business management experience in large-scale development or MOD programmes.
- Experience in Project Management.
- Ability to think critically and apply cost analysis and cost management principles.
- Self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Capability to work independently without significant direction.
- Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) processes and procedures.
- Understanding of rate structures and their construction.
