About your team

Global Platform Solutions - Chief Investment Office, Multinationals / Adviser Product is formed of 4 core functions providing support across channels within the Global Platform Solutions (GPS) business area. The 4 core functions are:
  • Tools Team - responsible for interactive tools and calculators, illustrations, governance and mandatory change in relation to those digital experiences
  • GPS Policy and Oversight team - responsible for product management and implementation across our pension products and for engaging with the government, regulatory and industry bodies in the development and analysis of pensions policy.
  • Platform CIO team - responsible for the development of innovative investment solutions globally
  • MNC / Adviser Product team - Accountable for WI and FAS overall proposition and product development.


About your role
You will be a member of the Tools Leadership team responsible for the transformation of Retirement Tools by setting a clear vision for your business and creating a robust plan which you will negotiate and agree with your key stakeholders. You will launch new capabilities, driving customer & member engagement and encouraging digital adoption & usage. This role will support GPS.

You will be responsible for identifying gaps in the market and customer & advisors’ experiences and proactively drive the change agenda forward. This will include presenting at senior forums to gain buy in, extensive usage of MI and insights to provide rationale for change and formulation of strategic plans to grow tools usage while improving customers’ experience. You will design and embed an Operating Model for each new implementation, ensuring clear roles and responsibilities, setting appropriate expectations to meet business needs and accountable owners in the business.

This role requires strong influencing, project management and stakeholder management skills to drive tools agenda, effectively risk manage and collaborate with colleagues across Propositions, Digital, Marketing, Compliance and Model Risk.

You will manage and coach a team of 2 Product Managers focused on development and maintenance of Retirement Tools and enable them to develop in their careers.

When the business need arises, you will be required to deputise for the Head of Tools or support the wider team in prioritisation activities and to remove barriers to delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and embed a long-term retirement tools strategy for all channels
  • Proactively research and identify customer’s, member’s and advisor’s needs through external research, competitors’ reviews and Adobe Analytics and use these to work with your team to create a product roadmap
  • Build a test and learn mentality within the team to deliver significant improvements in customer/member experience at pace. Role model behaviours and drive transformation, be the change champion.
  • Lead the collaboration between data and analytics, design, marketing and technology teams to support and inspire strong product development. This role is not about managing backlog but taking the retirement tools in a strategic direction.
  • Provide an on-going support in the derivation and setting of growth rates for illustrations produced under the FCA Conduct of Business regime (COBs) and ASTM1
  • Take a leadership role in closing risk events and incidents related to your tools, identify trends and set controls to prevent risk events from happening. Raise barriers to closure within senior forums.
  • Coach team in managing relationship with E&Y who act as team’s actuaries to build a strong operating model and close the gap in model management
  • Provide leadership in documenting and updating tools assumptions, complex calculations, test cases and product sheets. Provide framework for your team to operate within and encourage pride in day to day governance activities.
  • Conduct regular audits of tools documentation, identify gaps and drive resolution of action plans gaining support from the business.
  • Establish strong operating model with 3rd party vendors supporting the tools including setting and documenting engagement and change processes and feedback loops.
  • In conjunction with key stakeholders identify internal and external commercial and innovation opportunities through analysis and understanding of digital market and best in class approaches outside of financial services across customer needs, distribution, providers, disruptive propositions, and regulatory environment, competitor and technology changes.


About you
  • Strategy - experience in creating and autonomously delivering executive level plans, effective product road maps, gain buy in and execute plans
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to coach, mentor and guide direct reports
  • Experience in transforming end-to-end customer/member journeys with focus on innovation, continuous improvement, creativity and long term growth
  • Passion for change with proven track record of managing complex delivery projects through scrum of scrums where ownership isn’t always clear and delivering mobile first digital products
  • Experience in using Adobe Analytics and Adobe Target to drive insights and value slice, and test and learn strategy
  • External market knowledge of best in class technologies and practices to drive innovation and ways of working
  • Clear understanding of UX design and research frameworks and how to practically apply them
  • Excellent influencing and stakeholder management skills to build long terms relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders and champion tools agenda
  • Ability to set operating models from scratch, assign roles and responsibilities within the team not always directly reporting into you but providing leadership and clarity within the organisation
  • Experience in identifying, managing and mitigating risks. In addition, putting an effective risk solution and accountable executive in place.
  • Critical thinking and ability to make difficult decisions
  • Comfortable working under pressure and managing concurrent tasks against deadlines
