The role: We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Accounts payable assistant to join our HS2 project team. You will be required to work on both our Euston and Curzon Street projects based out of our Euston Station office in London with Ad-hoc travel to Birmingham (once per week, travel expenses covered)
You’ll be responsible for:
• Processing invoices and credit notes for both suppliers and subcontractors (PO and NON-PO.
• Checks IPCs/Oracle COMM4 applications.
• Generates weekly payment runs.
• Runs holds reports for unpaid invoices.
• Identifies/assists with treasury postings.
• Deals with queries - telephone/email/face to face.
• Reconciles supplier statements.
• Manages Intercompany journals/invoices.
• Produces CIS returns, checks and verifies status via HMRC.gov.uk.
• Maintains supplier & subcontractor account information.
• Responsible for own document control, i.e. attaching and/or sending for scanning.
• Provides Ad Hoc duties and support.
• Processes supplier and subcontractor invoices, generating weekly payment runs and supporting reports, liaising with site and suppliers’ re-payments and invoice queries.
• Provides informal guidance to more junior roles.
• Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
You’ll need to have:
• Knowledge of transactional accounting and closing processes.
• An understanding of professional accounting standards.
• An understanding of cost accounting and management.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.
• Acute focus on detail with very high standards with regards to delivering service.
• Demonstrates enthusiasm to work with others.
• Builds and maintains trusting and respectful relationships with customers and colleagues.
• Adaptability: able to cope with change, and effectively support the wider AP team throughout periods of change.
• Treats everyone as a customer including internal colleagues.
• Takes ownership to complete tasks, leads by example, and delivers on commitments.
• Works in a systematic methodical and orderly way.
• Sets measurable short- and long-term goals, to develop their personal effectiveness.
• Demonstrates clear, concise written and verbal communication.
• GCSE’s Grade A-C must include English & Maths (or equivalent).
