Role Overview

The Finance Director, IMI Poole will form part of the site Management Team. The role has full responsibility for the Finance function, working closely with the Managing Director, to develop and execute the Business Strategy in alignment with the Business Plan; ownership of ensuring financial controls are in place; delivering financial targets in line with IMI guidelines; and ensuring compliance with UK regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Duties will include but not be limited to:
  • Demonstrate strong leadership of the Finance function, driving culture and performance to meet and exceed the expectations of the IMI Way.
  • Act as effective Business Partner to the Poole site management team providing both support and challenge acting as a key contributor to the overall business strategy.
  • Become an active member of the Finance Leadership team including supporting the function to deliver its medium-term strategy of Finance Transformation.
  • Develop close working relationship with Regional CFO with focus on openness and transparency.
  • Focus on development and succession plans of local Finance team.
  • Take ownership of the numbers and present them at a regional level.
  • Management of IT and Despatch teams


Financial Reporting and Forecasting

  • Manage all financial reporting and audit requirements ensuring that all IMI and statutory reporting deadlines are achieved.
  • Ensure all monthly financial accounts and associated analysis are submitted accurately and on time to IMI deadlines.
  • Responsible for producing an accurate and robust annual budget and subsequent quarterly forecasts. Including setting hourly rates and standard costing.
  • Develop strategic objectives and plans as part of the 3 year strategic plan with full ownership for delivery of all financial targets.
  • Responsible for the submission of annual year-end accounts in line with IMI requirements.
  • Co-ordinate the annual external audit process.

Financial Control
  • Implement and Maintain strong financial control environment in accordance with the IMI Internal Control Declaration (ICD).
  • Ensure processes are in place to deliver efficient cash management and robust forecasting.
  • Review quotation process and contract reviews to ensure margins and overall financial returns meet IMI business objectives and are continually improved.
  • Ensure local accounting processes are in line with the Group policy and that Authorities limits are understood and adhered to.
  • Maintain and develop understanding of Standard Costing across all functions so that it becomes embedded into the culture of the Company.
  • Maintain the ICD evidence binder for the site.

Management Accounting
  • Responsible for reviewing and submitting Monthly Management Pack and related financial schedules accurately and on time.
  • Responsible for full variance analysis and explanation with real time information; completing cost centre reviews with owners to ensure understanding and accountability for the results.

Other
  • Collaborate and share best practices with colleagues and the wider IMI Finance teams, often working with senior Finance colleagues on complex projects to ensure best outcomes for the Group.
  • Engage with and be an ambassador for the Growth Accelerator programme.
  • Ad-hoc internal and cross-functional project activities.
  • Responsible for Direct and Indirect tax compliance.
  • Provide support for costings of new product development.
  • Provide assistance to the business when creating business cases.


Critical Competencies for Success

• Qualified accountant (CIMA or ACA) or equivalent qualification or experience.

• Proven track record in providing high quality, right first time financial accounts and analysis.

• Proven record in playing an active role in business partnering for growth.

• Proven ability to dig into the detail to get results, whilst maintaining a strategic view.

• Demonstrable ability to pick up new information and challenges quickly.

• Sufficient personal experience and stature to be able to quickly integrate into the management team.

• Intellectual capability in order to be a convincing and credible support to the management team.

• Experience of working within a result driven environment with skills in managing both core processes and bringing a creative and innovative approach.
  • Experience of operating within a global manufacturing/technology business with a balance of working both strategically and operationally.

• Experience of working in a global organisation (adherence to business structures and global rules).

• Proven track record of Change leadership and of delivering results and improved performance combined with the ability to inspire and manage development activity through strong influencing ability.

• Excellent attention to detail.

• Excellent organisational and planning skills.

• Ability to demonstrate a desire to succeed with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

• Articulate with a high level of communication skills (written and oral) and presentation skills.

• Flexible with the ability to work to deadlines and the determination to see a job through to a satisfactory conclusion.

• Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

Desirable Competencies for Success

• Previous experience at FD level of £30m+ business.

• Previous experience in a Lean manufacturing operation.

• Previous experience of a valve business. Commercial, Nuclear and Defence
