Head of Finance and Operations, Hospitality and Events Group, London. 60k to £70k

I'm working with a London-based catering company known for its emphasis on sustainability, seasonal produce, and exceptional service. The company specializes in crafting bespoke dining experiences for events, using locally-sourced ingredients from ethical suppliers.

We are looking for a qualified accountant with a strong technical accounting background and experience in a financial controller role. This role will also take ownership of the day-to-day business operations, so you must be able to adapt quickly to change and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

This role is predominantly office based, with one day WFH. Candidates looking to work 4 days per week will also be taken in consideration.

What are we looking for:
  • ACA/ACCA qualification.
  • Financial Controller/Head of Finance experience within an Events or Hospitality business
  • Strong Excel & data analysis skills.
  • Self-starter with a flexible mindset, able to deal with deliverables and objectives changing at relatively short notice.
  • Logical & proactive approach to issue resolution, able to break down a problem into its parts, assess the available options and identify a recommended solution.

The role:
  • Own and take responsibility for developing operating budgets and delivery of cost-effectiveness and agility.
  • Provide strategic and financial guidance to support the business.
  • Day-to-day management of outsourced transactional finance relationship
  • Continuously monitor and improve the internal processes & controls within the organisation.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with banks, external accountants and other third-party relationships.
  • Acting as the right-hand to the Founder/CEO and other key personnel to review, understand and present financial information.
  • Ensuring accuracy, integrity and integration of all financial data and functions.
  • Proactively communicating with the Department Heads to implement best practices across all areas of the business.
  • Responsibility for year-end statutory & tax filings (along with external accountant).
  • Monitor project budgets to ensure that revenue is maximised and that cost of sales and overheads are minimised.
  • Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure that the company remains compliant with all health and safety and other statutory regulations.
  • Represent the company in negotiations with customers, suppliers and other key contacts to secure the most effective contract terms.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients, key decision-makers and other stakeholders.
  • Regularly attend social events or off sites with the wider team.
  • Regularly be on-site at events and at the restaurants to support and facilitate any improvement to processes.
