Key Responsibilities
  • The Financial Controller is responsible for the efforts and results for financial accounting and reporting as well as financial control within the Dangote London office
  • This includes corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures.
  • The Financial Controller oversees the finance and accounts department staff in day-to-day operations.

Jobs to be done
  • Oversee all company accounts and investments
  • Prepare budget and monthly management accounts
  • Keep proper books and records to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts
  • Produce monthly P&L accounts and manage profitability through P & L account
  • Manage bank accounts and cash flow
  • Ensure ledgers are posted on timely basis and reviewed monthly.
  • Ensure all financial transactions (e.g. payment to vendors) are properly recorded, filed, and reported
  • Ensure freight payments are paid on time after proper verification
  • Ensure correct cost on PFI and invoices and avoid exchange losses.
  • Prepare financial accounts for Audit & collaborate to ensure proper compliance with all regulations
  • Manage Employee office attendance, time keeping and holiday records
  • Validate inter- company balances on a monthly basis.
  • Arrange Salary payments
  • Setup systems to manage the accounting of purchases, sales and shipping of spare parts and equipment.

Requirements

Experience
  • Minimum of 10 years cognate experience in related industry; UK experience in accounting is key.
  • Experience in setting up systems to manage the accounting of purchases, sales and spare parts and equipment is essential
  • Experience in managing and drafting shipping documentations under the LCs (letter of credit) is essential
  • Certified Accountant, Cost and Management Accountant is desirable.
  • UK Accounting experience is required
  • Relevant experience in a sourcing and shipping of spare parts environment is a key requirement
  • Experience working with Sage accounting software.
  • Experience in international Import Export Business and Trade Finance is a key requirement.
  • Strong understanding of leading Corporate. Finance, Governance practices and industry trends.

Skills and knowledge
  • Degree or M.Sc. degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, planning, budgeting, organizational and facilitation skills.
  • Good managerial, leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer service orientation.
  • Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, SAGE accounting package or a well-known ERP.
  • Knowledge of all relevant Financial Management and Corporate Governance Legislation and Policies.
  • Product knowledge with strong Business and financial acumen.
  • High level of personal integrity with detailed and optimum attention to details.


Note
  • Relevant experience in a sourcing and shipping of spare parts environment is essential.
  • Experience in international Import Export Business and Trade Finance is a key requirement.
  • UK experience in accounting is required
