Our client, The Anne Frank Trust, are looking for a Finance Assistant to become a key member of the finance team.

About the Charity

Issues of identity and discrimination are frequently and hotly debated in the media, but here at the Anne Frank Trust (AFT) we focus on what really matters - educating young people to be more positive towards their diverse fellow citizens.

Developed over three decades and now reaching over 120,000 pupils a year, AFT’s unique educational model teaches the story of Anne Frank for its insight into the Holocaust and antisemitism, and as motivation to challenge all forms of discrimination today. By empowering 9- to 15-year-olds to become peer educators and ambassadors, AFT deepen their learning, and disseminate their pro-equality message across their schools, communities and online

The charity has ambitious plans and is transitioning the finance function in-house as a part of this transformation project.

The role - What will success look like
  • You will be a key member of the finance team, ensuring the smooth running of our financial systems and processes.
  • You will be recognised for your accuracy and attention to detail, delivering high-quality financial information to support decision making.
  • You will be proactive in identifying and implementing improvements to our financial processes.
  • You will contribute to a positive and supportive working environment within the finance team.


Your day to day
  • Processing: You’ll be responsible for processing all financial transactions into our accounting system (Xero).
  • Month end: Oversee month end to ensure all necessary data is captured and processed accurately by the finance team. Assist in the production of the management accounts.
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable: Lead on the end-to-end process for weekly payment runs including managing all relevant approvers/stakeholders across the process. Maintain accurate records of accounts payable and receivable, including chasing outstanding invoices and payments.
  • Balance sheet reconciliations: Reconcile monthly all balance sheet accounts ensuring all records are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Reports: Assist with the preparation of reports for funders and other stakeholders, as required.
  • Staff expenses: Process and manage staff expense claims, ensuring compliance with the policy.
  • Statutory accounts: Assist with the preparation of the statutory accounts.
  • Ad hoc: Provide administrative support to the Finance Department, including filing, data entry, and other administrative tasks.

Requirements

You will need
  • Qualified AAT (or at least completing Level 4) or part qualified in either ACCA or CIMA
  • Some previous experience working in a finance-related role
  • Experience with Xero ideal
  • Proficient at Excel and/or Google Sheets
  • Charity sector experience is desirable
  • Strongly held belief in equity, diversity and inclusion - including a commitment to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of antisemitism with all its examples.
