We have an exciting opportunity for an Accountant to join our Central Otago team on a fixed term 12-month contract. This role will be based out of our Alexandra or Parkburn-Cromwell office to support the processing, analysis and reporting of financial transitions for the organisation. You will be responsible for preparing monthly accounts for a number of business units and working with the rest of the team to deliver further financial tasks.

You will enjoy working with numbers, using systems and processes to try to increase efficiency, and interacting with the wider group to ensure deadlines are met and information is understood. Additionally, as Fulton Hogan is in the process of implementing a new financial system past experience in system implementation projects would also be an advantage.

In addition to the above you will:
- Provide high quality financial reports within agreed timeframes including monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Assisting departments with monthly profit forecasting
- Maintain accuracy of job costing. Check and process recodes where necessary, ensuring that journal descriptions give accurate details for cost review processes
- Prepare Financial Reporting and other ad hoc reports as required in a clear and timely manner, including financial statements, reconciliations and investigation, forecasts and other comparative reporting requirements
- Monitor and report spend against budgets and assist with forecasting
- Preparing Annual budgets alongside Department Managers including involvement in the Year End process
- Provide detailed job / department variance and margin analysis
- Assist with cost to completes as required for projects
- Proactively deliver training to management, engineers, and contracting staff on all management reports and business tools
- Provide technical knowledge to help support system and process improvements to ensure finance systems and processes are operating effectively and up to best practice standards
We're looking for someone with:
- A relevant tertiary qualification along with CA (candidates nearly qualified will also be considered or willing to work towards achieving this qualification)
- Previous exposure to construction and maintenance programs of work would be an advantage but is not essential
- 3+ years of management accountant experience
- Excellent multi-tasking and organisational skills
- Highly proficient in the use of MS Office and JDE
- Experienced in analysing and coordinating large amounts of data
- Excellent communication skills across both verbal and written mediums
- Affinity for continuous improvement and innovation, applying learnings to ‘real world' delivery environments
