Te Tūranga | The Role
We have a rewarding and challenging opportunity available for a Senior Forensic Accountant to join this team to provide expert level investigative and forensic accounting support on complex financial investigations. This role works closely with the investigators, forensic accountants and litigators in both the Evidence and Investigations and Enforcement teams to ensure FMA has an integrated approach to monitoring, investigations and enforcement.
This is a varied position which will see you leading investigations, leading complex evidential interviews, providing forensic accounting analysis, representing FMA by presenting evidence in court proceedings as well as other investigative analysis as required. You will ensure that inquiries and investigations are well planned to deliver timely regulatory and enforcement outcomes. You'll assist in the preparation and presentation of civil and criminal cases for court action and support the delivery of other regulatory and enforcement outcomes as required. As well as working with our internal Enforcement Team, you will provide forensic accounting support across the organisation and engage extensively with external stakeholders. Your proactive identification, analysis and reporting will play an important role in the overall success of FMA's investigative and enforcement activities.
This role can be based in either our Auckland or Wellington office.

He kōrero mōu | About you
Key to your success in this role will be your drive, enthusiasm and self-motivation. You will have senior-level forensic accounting experience, be a member of the NZ Institute of Chartered Accountants or equivalent and be confident in running the end-to-end investigation of complex cases. This involvement will range from initial planning through to supporting court proceedings. You will bring an in-depth knowledge of laws and regulations relevant to the financial sector, as well as sound judgement, an enquiring mind and strong interpersonal and relationship management skills. This is a fast-paced role, managing multiple cases within tight time frames so you'll need to be adaptable, have good time management and demonstrate resilience.
