Brook Street Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of our Belfast client who are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join their team to cover maternity leave. This will be a 12 month contract
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and overseeing all accounting tasks for our UK and global entities. This standalone role is critical to maintaining the financial health and integrity of the company during the leave period.
This role is ideal for someone looking to grow their career in accounting and gain valuable experience in a supportive environment.
Responsibilities
Consolidation of monthly and annual management accounts
Perform period-end activities per the financial close schedules, including year-end preparation
Bookkeeping and ledger management including reconciliation of all ledger accounts, bank reconciliations, balance sheet accounts, General ledger etc., and resolve the reconciling items promptly
Managing Sales ledger including processing invoices working closely with management team
Managing Purchase Ledger ensuring a smooth and timely process of approval and payments
Manage, administer, and reconcile multi-currency bank accounts for our various international entities
Preparing VAT returns and other related report filings for the international business
Credit Control and reporting to management team
Work closely with HR regarding monthly payroll and pension filings
Dealing with internal and external finance queries
Support leadership team with daily operational queries.
Other adhoc admin tasks
Essential Criteria
Minimum 3+ years accounting experience and working within a finance department
Bachelor's Degree (In accounting or finance related subject preferred)
Experience in assisting or processing management accounts
Excellent Proficiency in accountancy software and Microsoft products, particularly Excel spreadsheets
Strong commercial awareness
Ability to work under pressure
Excellent time management and organisational skills
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Desirable:
ACA/CIMA or ACCA Qualified or Qualified by Experience
Previous experience of using Xero
Experience of working within an international finance function
Experience in managing multi-currency company bank accounts
Good knowledge of international accounting and tax
