Te Tūranga | The role:

Our Operational Risk team is key in managing the operational risks for Business Banking; understanding and anticipating what might go wrong before it does, putting effective processes and controls in place to minimise risk and acting quickly to mitigate events when things do happen.

As a Risk Manager you will support the Senior Risk Manager and the Head of Operational Risk & Compliance with your key areas of responsibility being to provide thought leadership, influence and expert risk oversight across the Business Banking division, leading the identification, management and mitigation of operational risks within these business units.

This role is high energy, diverse in nature and is a senior member of a small but exceptionally capable team charged with delivering high quality output and insight to senior management.

This is a 12 month secondment opportunity based at North Wharf.

Ngā mea kia whai angitū ahau? | What do I need to be successful?

We are looking for someone who understands the risk environment and has experience from within the financial services industry. Your ability to quickly assess and analyse, problem solve and articulate fact-based practical options to the business will be highly regarded. We are also looking for someone who takes the initiative to identify opportunities for positive change across the team and business, and helps drive those from concept to delivery.

You are a team player and someone who enjoys collaborating with others to find a workable solution. You will be a natural communicator with exceptional stakeholder relationship skills and an ability to influence through your nature and working style.

Technically you will have a strong foundation of operational risk experience in banking or financial services. You possess the ability to independently manage a portfolio allocated to you. This includes navigating grey areas with autonomy, proactively managing risk, and simplifying risk management concepts for your stakeholders while educating them throughout the process.
