Main purpose of the position
We're looking for an experienced Social Investments specialist to joing our global team in Cape Town, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision - Improving our future.
Your Impactful Role:
- Strategic Leadership: Shape and promote Scatec's community investment strategy to ensure sustainable development.
- Partnership Building: Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships, ensuring a steady flow of impactful community programs.
- Project Leadership: Oversee the design and implementation of Socio-Economic Development, Enterprise Development, and Trust Projects, from proposal to strategic approval.
- Risk and Opportunity Management: Work with E&S colleagues to identify risks, opportunities, and conduct socio-economic assessments.
- Impact Measurement: Develop frameworks to track performance and ROI, analyzing data to measure program effectiveness.
- Compliance and Reporting: Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required, ensuring compliance with all obligations.
- Economic Development Planning: Submit annual plans and manage project budgets, optimizing resource allocation for maximum impact.
- Stakeholder Communication: Create detailed reports and presentations for lenders and stakeholders.
- Global Collaboration: Contribute to Scatec's global community investments network.
- Team Leadership: Inspire, develop, and lead a small team of experts.
Qualifications and competencies
- University Degree or equivalent and/or valid qualification in Social or Environmental Sciences
- Minimum 7 years' experience in development, development consulting or the private sector, ideally with both academic and implementation/fieldwork experience
- Proven experience in developing and overseeing community level programs in areas such as Education, Skills Development, Social Welfare, Healthcare and SMME Development
- Solid project management experience, including coordination of multiple stakeholders and working with senior stakeholders.
- Proven experience building and maintaining large scale partnerships.
- Ability to work in a multinational organization.
- Knowledge in data collection/field gathering information.
- Proven Financial administration experience.
- Solid Microsoft Excel and Power BI experience

For this particular role we also expect:
- Strategic monitoring and evaluation (M&E) skills of economic development impact, including using data to drive key impact decisions.
- Point of contact with the Department of Energy (DoE) (IPP Office) on economic development obligations and programmes in close collaboration with Asset Management (AM)
- High-level stakeholders in local Government and in municipalities, NGOs, local stakeholders, and other relevant entities to foster partnerships.
- Internal stakeholders: Asset Management, Compliance, O&M, Supply Chain, Solutions, E&S Managers and CLOs, Communications
- Demonstrated ability to structure and apply strategic thinking to solve complex problems.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders.
- Strong research, data collection, data analysis and visualization skills.
- Self-motivated, and can work independently to manage a wide range of work.
