I am currently recruiting for a diligent Bookkeeper for a company within the St Helens area. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining our financial records, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments. This role requires a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of bookkeeping practices.

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Enter invoices on the Sage Purchase Ledger.
  • Compile weekly creditors lists and process payments through electronic banking via Sage.
  • Email remittance advices to suppliers and reconcile statements with supplier accounts.
  • Access and balance bank statements daily, providing monthly updates on bank balances and department costings.
  • Maintain up-to-date personnel records and manage holiday, sickness, and other absences.
  • Prepare monthly payroll and carry out year-end procedures as required by HMRC.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns for companies monthly

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Experience with Sage Accounting and Payroll software packages.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and use own initiative.
