£40,000-£50,000 per annum

We are currently working with a pioneering biotech company, who are looking to add a hands-on Bookkeeper to their small finance team. This role is integral to the in-house operational finance function and will see the successful candidate taking responsibility for all transactional duties, as well as producing a monthly trial balance, and assisting the Finance Director with reporting tasks.

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Collaborate with existing finance staff to develop and enhance the accounting system (Xero), establishing new routines and controls.
  • Integrate the accounting system with the purchasing system, Amici.
  • Handle Purchase Ledger and resolve associated queries.
  • Conduct Bank Reconciliations and manage cash flow, including basic treasury functions.
  • Oversee payment runs and prepare monthly VAT returns in compliance with regulations.
  • Work with the CFO to establish accurate project reporting.
  • Participate in meetings with the CFO and operational team as required.
  • Manage expense reclaims and assist with pension and staff benefits administration.
  • Tackle ad-hoc financial and office management tasks and contribute to the team’s efforts to address business needs.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Extensive accounting experience with the ability to manage bookkeeping and accounting support.
  • AAT qualifications or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in Purchase Ledger, Bank Reconciliation, and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Experience with standard accounting packages, Xero preferred.
  • High levels of confidentiality, numeracy, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, professional and courteous manner.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to use initiative.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Team player, detail-oriented, and organised with strong time management skills.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, along with excellent written and presentation skills.
