The Company

Our client is part of a large well known group of companies, looking for a Payroll Manager for one of the major stand alone companies in the Group. Due to the company's reputation and the way they treat their staff, this organisation has minimal turnover and is looking for a staff member who is keen for a career within their company. This role has arisen due to the incumbent moving offshore.

The Role

The role of Payroll Manager will report directly to the Financial Controller. You will take charge of the company's payroll with the support of an administrator. A unique characteristic of this role, is that you will sit alongside another payroll Manager who takes care of another business unit full function. The benefit of this, is you get to cover one another when required so you can take leave!

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting store managers across the country to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of payment of wages
  • Process fortnightly wages (circa 600) and monthly salaries (circa 130)
  • Meet all payroll compliance requirements re IRD & government reporting
  • Ensure documentation, policies & procedures are maintained
  • Ensure systems maintenance, upgrades and enhancements are maximised, partnering with the external provider
  • Maintain the employee records to ensure starters and leavers are accurately recorded
  • Provide a high level of customer service to the business around payroll requirements
  • Partner with finance to ensure accuracy between payroll and the finance system to ensure costs are captured
  • Co-manage a payroll administrator and ensure the development of this individual

Your profile:

To be considered for this role, we are looking for a hands-on individual who has been in a hand ons payroll manager role of could be in a sole-charge role looking for something with a bit more support & scope. You will enjoy the autonomy and wants to take ownership of the payroll area. The company is currently using Datacom so someone with that experience will have a distinct advantage. Most importantly though, you will be frequently liaising with the stores so someone who has good communication and relationship-building skills is required.
