A great opportunity to fill a Parental leave role, up to 12 months, in our small but dynamic Finance Team.

The Hotel Accountant's core responsibilities include handling the duties of the General Ledger and part of the Account Payable & Cost's duties.

What will I be doing?

As the Hotel Accountant, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
  • Maintain a high customer service focus by approaching your job with the customers always in mind and being proactive in a timely manner towards their needs and requests of customers.

Specific Duties
  • Prepare selected month end journals.
  • Liaise and co-operate with both internal and external auditors.
  • Prepare and submit the required statutory reports including (but not limited to), GST Return, Payroll Return, FBT, NRWT and Statistics NZ.
  • Complete the weekly owner's forecast.
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Review and post the daily revenue journals.
  • Complete daily revenue report approvals.
  • Post and reconcile bank transactions.
  • Complete credit card reconciliations
  • Preparation and loading of payroll journals.
  • Ensure that all employees are paid correctly based on authorised information.
  • Assist the finance manager as required.

What are we looking for?

A Hotel Accountant serving Hilton Brands is always working on behalf of our Guests and working with other Team Members. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviours, skills, and values that follow:
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting and/or Management preferred.
  • At least 3 years of working experience as General Leger Supervisor or higher in the hospitality industry.
  • Solid working experience in hotel accounting and operations.
  • Mature and reliable.
  • Previous experience in a managerial operational accounting role.
  • Must possess basic computational ability.
  • Ability to lead, provide guidance and develop team members.
  • Possess accounting qualifications.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English to meet business needs.
  • Ability to be resourceful, creative and maintain flexibility.
  • Line operations management and labour related experience preferred.
