The Company

My client has recently been through a shareholding change to now being owned 100% by the MNC offshore. (previously 70%). This acquisition is a result of a strategic positioning of the global business as the business continues to execute on its growth strategy. As a result, the NZ subsidiary is now looking to hire a Head of Finance who will be a strong business partner to the local MD, whilst supporting the Group finance team in their global transformation initiatives and lead on local strategy development tactically.

The Role

The role of Head of Finance will report to the local MD with a dotted reporting line to the Group Commercial Controller based in Singapore. You will have the following responsibilities:

· Lead the local finance team, developing and mentoring the team whilst also going through transformational change.

· Be an active member of the local SLT, providing financial nous to the wider team

· Provide insights and analyse business performance to ensure optimal performance of the business

· Provide business partnering to the MD and local management - leading financial modelling, scenario planning & investment appraisals to support decision making.

· Prepare budgets, forecasts and strategic plans for all entities and the Group consolidation

· Ensure Statutory & regulatory reporting requirements are met locally

· Collaborate with Group tax to develop tax planning strategies for the business and ensure accurate tax compliance

· Oversee cash management activities and cashflow forecast requirements are met and work with global to ensure treasury policies are managed

· Oversee the local audit and ensure any Group audit requirements are met

· Drive & implement Finance initiatives locally, whilst continually improve financial systems, processes & procedures

· Ensure internal controls are in place to ensure the company's assets and financial integrity are maintained.

· Perform duties as company secretary to ensure all statutory requirements are met.

· Own the risk management framework in conjunction with Group

· Be the primary point of contact to 3rd parties, such as managing any bank relationships, negotiating contracts and vendors

· Prepare and oversee payroll as required

· Other ad hoc duties as required.

Your profile:

To be considered for this role, we are looking for a CA qualified Head of Finance. You will be someone that has worked in a MNC environment previously and understand the nuances of working in global companies with local subsidiaries. You will have the following attributes:
  • Have proven experience, developing and nurturing a team through transformational change
  • Experience with process improvement, strong on change management.
  • Proven commercial nous with an ability to drive the performance of the business
  • Proven strategic ability however not afraid to roll up the sleeves and be hands on as required.
  • Prior working experience with global reporting requirements
  • A growth mindset.
  • Experience with logistics/freight or similar would be advantageous


You may have operated as a Financial Controller, looking for a step up to Head of Finance where you will have responsibility for the Finance function. Alternatively you may already have been a Head of Finance.

This role will come with parking on site, 1 day WFH and be part of a close knit team.
