With a team of around 15 employees in our cozy Midrand office and an additional 50 peers globally, we are committed to providing a comprehensive and user-friendly investment solution.

Brokstock is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Part-Time Accountant to join our growing team in South Africa. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in accounting, particularly within the financial services sector, with expertise in investment or trading fields. This role requires proficiency in handling tax, VAT, including apportioned input VAT and VAT on imported services issues, salary calculations and management, knowledge of IFRS and experience in compilation of annual financial statements. Additionally, familiarity with the Xero accounting software is a key requirement.

Financial Management:

- Oversee financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.

- Maintain financial records and documentation for audit purposes.

- Prepare monthly management reports: balance sheet and statement of profit and loss.

SARS and CIPC Compliance:

- Handle tax-related matters, including the preparation and submission of tax returns and annual CIPC return.

- Address VAT issues, with a focus on apportioned input VAT and VAT on imported services compliance.

Salary Calculation and Management:

- Execute payroll processes accurately and in a timely manner.

- Manage employee benefits and ensure compliance with salary-related regulations.

Xero Accounting Software:

- Utilize Xero accounting software for day-to-day financial operations.

- Provide training and support to team members on Xero functionalities.

Compilation of annual financial statements:

- Compile the annual financial statements in terms of the International Financial Reporting Standards and the requirements of the Companies Act of South Africa.

- Interact with the company's auditor on the audit of the annual financial statements.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • At least 3- year experience in compilation of annual financial statements/IFRC.
  • Proven experience working with Financial Service Providers (FSPs), particularly in the investment or trading sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of tax regulations, income tax, PAYE, SDL, UIF and COIDA contributions, VAT, including apportioned input VAT and VAT on imported services issues.
  • Proficiency in salary calculation and management.
  • Prior experience with Xero accounting software and SimplePay payroll platform software.
  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS and experience in compilation of annual financial statements.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
