Vacancy: Newly Admitted Tax Attorney/Tax Attorney
Location: Bryanston

Our company seeks a Newly Admitted Attorney who is looking to accelerate their career into the fast paced and challenging tax law environment. Join a leading non-practicing firm specialising in tax, international tax, cross border consultancy and related legal complexities for international clients. This position is geared specifically towards Tax Advisory with particular focus on double taxation agreements.

Required Qualifications:
  • LLB Degree.
  • LLM Degree advantageous.
  • Admitted Attorney with 2-3 years relevant experience.

Key Deliverables:
Advising Clients on Cross-Border Taxation Issues:
  • Understand the specific tax implications of international transactions, investments, and employment across different jurisdictions.
  • Analyse tax treaties, domestic tax laws, and regulations applicable to the client's situation.
  • Provide strategic advice to minimise tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with relevant laws.

Tax Advisory Consultations:
  • Conduct detailed consultations with clients to understand their unique circumstances and objectives.
  • Assess the potential tax consequences of various scenarios and propose tax-efficient solutions.
  • Advise on structuring transactions, business operations, and investments to optimise tax outcomes.

Drafting DTA (Double Taxation Agreements) & Residency Opinions:
  • Interpret and apply provisions of double taxation treaties to prevent or mitigate double taxation.
  • Prepare residency opinions to determine the tax residency status of individuals or entities for cross-border tax purposes.
  • Conduct internal reviews to ensure the accuracy and completeness of DTA and residency opinions.

Researching Tax-related Issues:
  • Stay updated on changes to tax laws, regulations, and treaties in relevant jurisdictions.
  • Conduct thorough research to analyse complex tax issues and identify applicable laws and precedents.
  • Interpret tax authorities' guidance and rulings to provide informed advice to clients.
