The Company

My client is a large well known NZ entity which owns substantial assets. The goal of this entity is to grow the asset base and increase distributable returns to the owners. The entity has broader social responsibilities and therefore has a feel good factor. The company offers one day WFH and has a great team feel.

The Role

The role of Senior Group Accountant will be part of a close-knit finance team reporting directly to the Finance Manager. The role will be responsible for:
  • Preparation for the monthly consolidation of the company's financial results inclusive of maintenance of the consolidation systems and full documentation of all elimination entries.
  • Preparation of management reports for review for some subsidiary entities within the Group and also prepare all Group financial reporting information to be included in Board reporting. Analyse and report on variances between actual and forecast results and between forecast and budget results.
  • Preparation of indirect taxation returns for two entities within the group
  • Assistance with the preparation of direct taxation returns
  • Preparation of the full year statutory financial statements and other shareholder information.
  • Own the annual audit process
  • Ensure all insurances of the Group are administered
  • Responsible for maintaining cash flow forecasts to ensure a clear view of future cash requirements and commitments.
  • Ensure interest rate exposures are accurately estimated and approved instruments used to manage the risk are properly documented to ensure compliance with IFRS accounting requirements.
  • Own the insurance process of annual renewals, claims and managing the outsourced relationship
  • Become a super user on their ERP system and ensure future development of the systems.

Your profile:

To be considered for this role, we are looking ideally for a CA qualified Accountant who is technically proficient and has a strong working knowledge of IFRS standards. You need to have the ability to research and apply standards to complex business transactions. The business is continuing to become more diverse and complex so this will be fundamental.

Your experience will ideally include public practice experience coupled with commercial experience which will include Financial reporting, Statutory reporting, consolidation and tax experience.
