We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in managing our financial operations!

Nestled at the foot of the Four Peaks Mountain Range in Geraldine, South Canterbury, Barker's has been on the corner of the original family farm since 1969. With over 300 employees across the business, we're continually exploring new and innovative ways of doing things - and we've got ambitious plans for further growth!

Position Overview: The Accounting Manager will be responsible for maintaining financial transparency and driving our organization's growth by effectively managing Barker's financial data. Reporting to the CFO, you will oversee the accounting department, ensuring compliance with regulations, preparing financial statements, and providing leadership to the team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Effectively manage a high-performing accounting team with the support of senior leadership.
  • Oversee daily operations of the accounting team, including accounts payable, receivable, fixed assets, overheads, and general ledger.
  • Control and monitor the quality of accounting data and its sources.
  • Prepare annual financial statements
  • Assist in preparing budget and forecast data
  • Provide relevant data for internal dashboards and analyze trends in KPIs and financial metrics.
  • Continuously assess accounting processes for efficiency improvements and risk mitigation.
  • Design and implement internal controls to ensure the security of company assets.
  • Prepare for and lead external audit processes.
  • Implement changes and recommendations to enhance accuracy and strengthen internal controls.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA qualification preferred
  • Proven experience in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
