Description
Job Title: Bookkeeper
Our client is based in London (United Kingdom) and they are looking to hire a remote working South African in the position of a Bookkeeper as soon as possible.
Job Summary:
The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations. This role involves recording financial transactions, reconciling accounts, and assisting in the preparation of financial statements.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the company.
Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process.
Verify that transactions are recorded in the correct day book, suppliers ledger, customer ledger, and general ledger.

Accounts Payable and Receivable:

Process accounts receivable/payable and handle payroll in a timely manner.
Prepare invoices, handle bank deposits, and manage collections.

Reconciliation:

Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations of bank accounts.
Reconcile discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information.

Financial Reporting:

Assist in the preparation of financial statements.
Generate financial reports such as balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports as required by management.

Compliance:

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements.
Keep informed about changes in tax and deduction laws that apply to the organization.

Auditing:

Prepare for and assist in audits.
Generate required documentation for audits and collaborate with auditors.

Software and Systems Management:

Use accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and other office software (e.g., Microsoft Excel) proficiently.
Maintain and suggest improvements for financial systems and processes.

Administrative Support:

Provide support to the accounting department and other departments as necessary.
Handle additional tasks such as filing, data entry, and general office duties.

Requirements:

Proficiency in Xero is essential
Proficiency in other accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) is bonus
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Bachelor's degree preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of bookkeeping experience.
Certified Bookkeeper (CB) designation preferred but not required.
Additional relevant certifications (e.g., CPA) are a plus.

The position is full time, permanent and fully remote.
Location: Remote work.
Salary: R20 000-R24 000 CTC depending on experience
Starting date: As soon as possible.
