Fixed Term Payroll Officer

New Zealand Steel, a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueScope, manufactures and markets a range of flat rolled steel products for the building, construction, manufacturing and agricultural sectors. You may know us for our flagship COLORSTEEL brand.

What you will be doing

With our Time and Attendance project about to get underway we have a vacancy for an experienced payroll officer to join our fun, hardworking and supportive payroll team on a 6-month fixed term contract, this role is based at NZ Steel in Glenbrook.

While reporting to our Payroll Supervisor you will play a key role in the delivery of six major payrolls for New Zealand Steel & Pacific Steel NZ you will also be assisting with invoices and employee recognition.

Some of your key responsibilities will include setting up new employees on the payroll and SAP systems, employee file maintenance, payroll processing, reporting and other payroll duties.

What you will bring to the role

You will need to have at least one year experience in dedicated payroll and/or accounts support roles. Hands-on experience working with a NZ based Payroll platform is preferred but not essential as training will be provided.

This role will be suited to someone with excellent attention to detail and solid analytical skills, of course, a sense of fun and a can-do positive attitude will be welcomed.

This is a part time, fixed term role to support the team during the implementation of our project. You will be working approximately 25 hours per week, ideally Monday to Friday 9.00am - 2.30pm although we are happy to discuss this to support a work/ life balance.
