My Wolverhampton based client is looking for an Assistant Book-Keeper to join their forward thinking business.

Duties and

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately record and maintain sales transactions, raising invoices, and posting/allocating receipts.
  • Support with both purchase and sales ledger
  • Generate and distribute customer invoices in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and chase outstanding payments.
  • Resolve any discrepancies or issues related to customer accounts.
  • Implement effective credit control procedures to minimise overdue payments.
  • Contact customers to ensure timely payment and follow up on overdue accounts.
  • Maintain accurate records of all communication and payment arrangements.
  • Collaborate with the team to prepare month-end reports, reconciliations, and journals.
  • May be required to reconcile the bank accounts, claim the monthly VAT (therefore VAT law and compliance knowledge is required)
  • Contribute to the month-end close process, ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and on time.
  • liaising with the Company's external accountants and auditors.
  • Provide support in resolving any accounting discrepancies or issues that arise.
  • Assist with general financial duties, such as data entry, answering phone calls, and document management.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries related to sales ledger and credit control.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth workflow and accurate financial information

Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical skills.
  • Proficient in using the accounting software Sage/Xero software
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
