TITLE JTEKT North America Corporate Controller

Provide leadership of the finance function across JTEKT North America. This includes overseeing policy, procedures, approval levels, controls, and compliance matters for all financial, accounting and IT related activities.

Responsible for direct supervision of all corporate accounting, operational accounting, financial and IT functions. Primary responsibilities include supervision of Shared Services including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Fixed Asset maintenance, Treasury, general ledger maintenance, monthly closing, Tax oversight (Sales/Use, Property, Franchise, and Income tax), consolidation of JTEKT N.A. result, preparation of Bank financial statements, oversight and primary responsibility for the annual audit process, SG&A reporting, budgeting and forecasting, cash forecasting and debt management along with overall oversight of IT function.

Lead and coordinate the external audits and reviews of quarter and year end activities with external auditors, oversee J-SOX control activities for corporate accounting, responsible to oversee preparation of all tax work papers, maintenance of FILOT/PILOT agreements (in conjunction with legal), participation on the 401(k) oversight committee, and

The Corporate Controller will also be part of a team that maintains policies and procedures to identify, resolve and document accounting issues in addition to creating procedures to make the close and reporting processes more efficient and accurate as well as overseeing the annual corporate-wide budgeting process.

The Corporate Controller is responsible for plant controlling policies, procedures and the functional development of plant and business unit controllers with a direct line reporting relationship to the business unit and plant controllers who also have dotted line reporting to plan and business unit management.

From a management reporting perspective, the Corporate Controller is responsible for reporting consolidated JNA financial data (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Working Capital, Debt etc...) on a monthly and quarterly basis along with overseeing the corporate wide budgeting and forecasting process.

Overall responsible for the central accounting functions for 9 legal entities (15 plants, 5 warehouses, 2 Technical Centers) and the monthly consolidation of a total of 9 entities in 3 countries with a total revenue of approximately $2.5B.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
Management Oversight of the following:
• Oversight of all accounting and financial policies
• Oversight of JTEKT N.A. accounting, finance and IT associate development
• Manage the treasury function which includes daily cash postings and reconciliation, debt management, and cash forecasting
• Perform cash projections to effectively manage cash balances and maximize use of available cash
• Review and record journal entries required to reflect the monthly activity
• Preparation of work papers supporting the monthly close process and month end balances
• Review monthly accounting close process including analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained
• Oversight of the preparation of monthly financial statements and related footnotes
• Oversight of the preparation of consolidated JTEKT N.A. budgets, forecasts and projections.
• Improving working capital through AR, AP management and setting Inventory control targets
• Oversight of preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated USA and consolidated North America financial statements including P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash flow
• Preparation of the year to date cash flow
• Coordinate JTEKT N.A. USA external audit - primary contact for external auditors in timeline, requirements, planning and execution
• Preparation of work papers supporting the annual tax return
• Coordinate the preparation of annual tax return with outside advisory firm
• Implement a process to record transactions by department and compare costs incurred to budget and performance analysis of profit centers
• Oversight of Shared Services Accounts Receivable which includes: Billing, Cash Application, Collecting, Claims processing, involvement in customer dispute resolution, DSO management/improvement
• Assist Human Resources in maintaining records for retirement accounts (i.e., 401-K Plan)
• Oversight of Shared Services Accounts Payable which includes invoice processing, payment, handling of vendor disputes, and coordination/resolution of disputed or open items.
• Oversee all aspects of SG&A reporting - accurate and timely actual reporting, planning, analysis and explanation
• Maintenance of fixed asset records
• Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective internal controls
• Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations
• Accurate and timely production of all financial information
• Proper analytical review of the asset operations from a balance sheet, income statement and cash flow perspective as well as an overall business perspective
• Any other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time.
• Perform monthly JNA I believe this point is incomplete

Supervisory Responsibilities:
• This position will manage other managers/supervisors with a total of 9 direct reports total staff of 116(75 accounting/finance associates and 41 IT associates/contractors). There is a combination of managing highly specialized professionals, general accounting professionals, supervisors, and accounts payable / receivable processors. In IT the organization is split between Applications and Infrastructure with a combination of specialized technical resources and contractors both on and offshore.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Prior controlling experience at large multi-national manufacturing company or commiserate experience at a large public accounting firm
• Strong understanding of accounting and tax theory
• Prior experience managing treasury, accounting and general tax oversight
• Prior experience managing IT function with upper Tier ERP system
• Highly detail oriented and organized in work
• Strong problem solving skills, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees and management
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint skills
• Knowledge of Oracle software desirable

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's or higher degree in Accounting and 15+ years of accounting experience; CPA strongly preferred
• Minimum of 15 years of progressive work experience including management experience.
